Our pets

At Blake Vets we are all pet owners too and so understand that special relationship you share with your pets.

Here’s a selection of some of our pets.

 Mikki Mokki - Jim's cat

Mikki Mokki is  a 6 years old cat who has been a keen mouser ever since she came home with her first mouse still attached to a mouse trap!

Ebony is Jim’s 8 year old Labrador, doing what she loves best – cleaning up empty yoghurt pots!

Louis – Sue's cat

Louis – Sue's cat

Sue has had Louis for 3 years. He was brought in to the surgery and signed over to the practice as he had a urinary problem that his owner was unable to afford to treat. He is a very large cat, weighing in at 7.5kg and is scared of everything except mice and moles – regularly bringing both into the house and setting them free in various rooms. His favourite past-time is sleeping and seems to do little else, except sleep, eat and then sleep some more!

Lily - Caroline's Dog

Lily is a 10 year old retired working sheepdog with Addison’s disease who Caroline adopted through the surgery.  Her medical condition means that she doesn’t handle stress well, however she has adapted amazingly well to her new environment over the last few months.  Instead of sheep herding she is enjoying running and has developed a keen interest in monitoring squirrel and rabbit activity in the North Petherton area.

Bruno – Emma’s chocolate Labrador

Bruno is 3 years old and he who loves to play with toys, run everywhere! And where there is water you will find Bru! He is a cuddly bear under all the energy and loves a good chest rub by the fire in the evenings.

Bella – Emma’s Border collie

Bella, is a 5 year old Border collie, who was rescued by Emma in September 2013 as her owner could not manage her activity level anymore. Bella loves running on the Quantock Hills and the beach with Bruno. Toys are her all time favourite thing, especially when she can gather them all up together in one giant pile! She also loves having cuddles in the evening by the fire and playing around with Bruno.

Dave - Helen's Border Collie

Dave is and 11 year old Border Collie who loves food and likes nothing more than biting the ankles of Helen’s husband whenever he steps out of line!

Arthur - Helen's Cat

Arthur is 3 years old – he loves to play fetch!

Padfoot – Paula’s cat

Padfoot – Paula’s cat

This is Padfoot. He’s a polydactyl moggy, he makes good use of those extra toes as he is a brilliant hunter.

Ivor – Paula’s chameleon

Ivor – Paula’s chameleon

This is Ivor, a yemens chameleon. He enjoys hunting for locusts and has quite a temper!
Paula has whole host of other animals including Mossup, a chinchilla; Pidge, a 5 year old hand-reared pigeon; a family of 6 polecats; and Jack Sparrow, a salmon pink bird-eating tarantula, who lives with Paula despite her being terrified of house spiders!

Ollie is a two year old ex-show dog who now loves a more than running in the muddiest puddles and jumping into he dirtiest ditches he can find… it’s a good job he loves a bath! He was a nervous chap when he first joined Katie but slowly with the help from Monty, his Labrador partner in crime, he is gaining the confidence he lacked! He enjoys all the love and attention he can get!

Izzy is 2 1/2 years old and loves her ball. She likes chasing cats from her garden and loved her holiday in a caravan in Dawlish where she went on a ferry to Exmouth.  Her favourite walk is around Sloway Lane along the River bank.

This is Buzz, he loves walks on the beach, snuggling up on the sofa under the blanket and most of all his dinner!
